Putting Drills For Golf The 3 Best Drills For Gaining Or Regaining Confidence With the Flatstick

Golf can be one of the most challenging games. if the putting aspect of your game turns sour, it can turn a challenging game into one that seems impossible to master. The best way to overcome a balky putter is to practice a series of drills that take a couple of minutes each. Practiced for a week they can help bring the confidence back into your short game.

Drill #1. Place 7 or 8 balls a foot away (or the length of your putter handle) equidistant from each other in a circle around the hole. if you are successful in dropping all the balls into the hole on the first try, proceed to step 2.

The first drill is the easiest and works to install confidence back into your game. The beauty of this drill is that you can arrange your practice putting session either on a perfectly flat area of the putting green, or incorporate a slope into your drill to practice uphill, downhill, and side hill putts to increase confidence in those directions.

Drill #2. Place your 7 or 8 balls a putter length away from the hole. when measuring simply drop the putter head into the hole. lower the putter to the ground, and start placing the balls around in a circle at the end of the handle.You should now be looking at a circle of balls all the same distance from the hole.now putt all the balls to the hole. if you miss one repeat the drill.

If you succeed you may move on to Drill 3 or practice Drill 2 again to boost confidence.

Drill #3. now place your golf balls 2 club lengths in a circle around the hole. when all the balls are successfully dropped in the hole, the drill can either be repeated, or repeat Drill 1 & 2. in any case you can carry that confidence to the first tee, the first green, and on into your round.
